Fuel calculator

A race plan built on the fuel you actually use per lap, from your Garage61 laps: what to start with, when to pit, how much to add.

Plan a race

  1. Pick the car and track

From the ones you've driven recently.
  2. Enter the race length

In minutes or laps. For a timed race, check the lap time it uses.
  3. Read the plan

It updates as you change any input.

Where the numbers come from

Fuel per lap:
every Garage61 lap records the fuel it used. Laps in and out of the pits, slow laps (cautions, spins) and glitches are left out. Race laps are used when there are at least 5, because racing burns less than practice: drafting and lifting in traffic.
Safe or typical:
plan with the safe figure (90% of your laps use less) or the typical one, or type your own.
Race laps:
for a timed race, the time divided by your race lap time, rounded up: you finish the lap you're on when time runs out.
Tank size:
from the car's profile when known; otherwise the most fuel you've started a lap with, shown as "at least" and editable.

What the plan tells you

Start fuel:
the race laps, plus a formation lap and spare at the finish (1 lap by default), up to a full tank.
Stops:
for each stop, the window to pit in: the earliest lap that still lets you finish, and the latest lap the fuel reaches, with how much to add.
One stop fewer:
the fuel per lap you'd have to average to skip a stop, and whether lift-and-coast can get there. With your pit stop time loss, it also says how much time per lap saving may cost before stopping is faster.
Your fuel use:
fuel per lap, lap time and lap count for each kind of session.

Plan before the race: Garage61 doesn't see your fuel live during one.
