Setup wizard
It reads how the car behaved on one of your laps, asks how it felt, and suggests a few changes as exact garage steps. Not a new setup: a few clicks on the one you have.

The answers are prefilled from the telemetry. Change anything that doesn't match what you feel: your answer wins when it disagrees with the data.Try the changes
Up to 3 changes, biggest problem first, each with the garage path, the value now and the value to set, and why.
Front anti-roll bar: 1 click softer (lower number) · Front, Brakes, Lights › ARB blades: 45 degrees → 30 degrees. A softer front bar gives the front more mid-corner grip.
What it measures
| How | |
|---|---|
| Balance | Understeer or oversteer on entry, mid-corner and exit, and the corners where it shows: the steering you used against the path the car took. |
| Fast or slow corners | Where each problem shows: fast corners (150 km/h and up) get aero changes first; slow ones (under 110 km/h) mechanical ones. |
| Braking | How much of your braking the ABS was working, and lock-ups. |
| Traction | Wheelspin on exit: engine revs rising faster than speed in the same gear. |
| Bumps | Big vertical hits at speed. Kerbs and jumps look the same, so you confirm it. |
| Your style | Trail braking, how quickly you get on the throttle, coasting. |
How the steps are written
- Which way the numbers go:
- for most settings a higher number means more (stiffer, more wing). Dials that differ between cars, like TC and ABS, follow the car's own notes in the setup export ("setting 12 has the most assistance"); without them the step says the effect and asks you to check which way.
- How far:
- one or two clicks, depending on how strong the problem is. When the step size is known the exact value is given (45 → 30 degrees); otherwise it says "1 setting lower".
- Fixed setup series:
- a switch limits the steps to what you can change in the car: brake bias, TC, ABS.
- The car's notes:
- iRacing's notes for the car, from the export, are shown at the bottom of the page.
Change a few things at a time, drive 3–5 laps, then check the change: one change at a time shows what each does.
Did the change help? (before and after)
After driving with the changes, press Check a change, pick a lap with the new setup and upload its export. The new run shows:
- Lap time:
- before → after.
- What you changed:
- every setting that differs between the two exports. Tyre temperatures, wear and other readings that change on their own are left out.
- How the car behaved:
- each handling line before → after: better, worse, same, or swung the other way (the change went too far, so go back about halfway).
Downforce: fast corners or straights?
Wing buys grip in fast corners and costs speed on the straights. The downforce section shows how much of your lap is flat out and how much is in fast corners, and asks how the straights felt.
With a faster driver's lap at the same car and track (from Coach me), it compares every straight: how fast each of you leaves the corner onto it, your top speeds, and how many metres each of you needs to gain the same speed near the top. That last one tells drag from exits: less drag gains speed in fewer metres whatever the exit was. It uses your typical lap from the whole session, so one tow doesn't decide it, and flags the laps that had one.
| Verdict | When |
|---|---|
| Try less wing | They gain speed quicker at the top end. One setting, two when the gap is big and you're no slower in fast corners. A matching balance change comes from the car's notes when they give one. |
| Try more wing | You pull away on the straights but lose in the fast corners. |
| Keep the wing: the gap is the exits | They leave the corners faster but gain speed at the same rate. The section names the corners. |
| Keep the wing: gearing | You're on the rev limiter at the end of the longest straight. |
Race laps can carry a tow, which looks just like less drag: the page warns when either lap is a race lap.

Every step has “Did it help?” 👍 / 👎, with a reason on 👎: made it worse, no difference, can't change it or unclear. Votes count towards the step's rule, such as “rear anti-roll bar softer, for oversteer on exit”.
After two votes a rule is marked helpful or unhelpful. Helpful ones say so; unhelpful ones are tried last, and the page says which fix it skipped and why. History › Which setup changes help you lists them all.
